Welcome

Welcome to the October 2007 issue of the iT4Communities Charities newsletter.

Anne DonnellyFirstly I must introduce myself as your new newsletter editor. My name is Anne Donnelly and I've worked with iT4Communities on a contract basis since July 2005. My main role is as a project definer - that means I've spoken to many of you to discuss your requirements when you've requested a volunteer. I've also been involved with specifying and project managing the recent changes to the functionality of the website.

I've taken over responsibility for editing the newsletter from Tam Williams who has sadly left us for pastures new. However, we've recruited a replacement, Josh Hoole, whose first job is to ensure that our annual volunteer awards in November are as successful as last year's were.

In this issue we're asking you to "spread the word" if you like what we do. We have a feature on building and maintaining a website - it's not as simple as throwing together some pages - and both of our case studies feature web development projects. We note that Volunteering England are promoting virtual volunteering but that's something that we've been doing for years and John Davies wonders if a volunteer could help with your telephone system.

I hope that you enjoy this newsletter and I'd love to hear your comments. If there are any subjects you'd like us to cover in future newsletters please let us know by emailing us at info@it4communities.org.uk

Best wishes,

Anne Donnelly - Newsletter Editor
