For over 25 years REACH has been bringing together voluntary organisations and volunteers with career skills. It meets the needs of the voluntary sector by encouraging skilled and experienced people to give their time on a part-time, voluntary basis to charitable organisations and community groups. A charity itself, REACH helps voluntary organisations gain access to these potential volunteers and benefit fully from their expertise.
REACH Volunteers have a whole variety of managerial, technical, business and professional backgrounds; often with specialisms such as HR, marketing, PR, business and strategic planning. Throughout its work REACH actively promotes equality and diversity, challenging barriers to volunteering and encouraging the participation of individuals from minority communities.
REACH currently delivers a number of key projects. Reaching Out is an England-wide project providing advice and skilled volunteers to black and minority ethnic, refugee and migrant, faith and rural groups. Through Reaching Out, these organisations can gain new skills, strengthen their know-how and progress their aims more effectively. Such front-line groups often find it hard to get the advice, support and skilled volunteers they need. The Better Boards Project delivers tailored trustee recruitment for black and minority ethnic, faith and rural organisations. The Changemaker Project provides practical assistance to voluntary organisations facing challenges in relation to survival, effectiveness, expansion or merger. REACH also currently undertakes focussed work in North East England and Cumbria. It is also about to launch an exciting new project in London focussing on the needs of small, local and community organisations.
REACH matches its volunteers, who already have professional, business and management career skills, to groups in need of that specific expertise. Roles registered by organisations are sent to volunteers with the requisite experience, through our bespoke matching service. There is more information about REACH, how to register requests, and its current projects on the REACH website.
